I, too, made an error during the installation of WordPress, placing it in my root directory rather than in a directory of its own. Fortunately, I was able to locate the set of instructions Wordpress had created for moving a blog from one place to another, and so was able to avoid the nuisance of deleting and reinstalling. It sounds as if you've set quite a task for yourself, but the challenge will feed your creativity in any number of unexpected ways. And I very much like the violet-to-yellow gradient you're currently using on your blog's title bar. Congratulations on bringing the beastie to heel!
