At Last, At Last!

We’ve had a cold front come in. At least that’s what the meteorologists call it. Those of you who live in the North would call it a “cool front” but our local weather person insists that the correct meteorological term is “cold front”. In any case, the high on Tuesday is supposed to be no higher than 70 degrees.

For this climate and latitude, that is indeed considered cool and I can hardly wait. I have shrubs to trim and pots to get ready to plant bulbs in, and I may even buy a couple of tomato plants and put them in the ground.

Yes, things are indeed backward in Southwest Florida. We plant tomatoes here in September and October, while those in the more Northern climes plant them in May and June. Those puny Northern tomato plants would never survive a summer in Southwest Florida, but then, I barely survive it myself…lol…

Finally, the cooler weather is upon us. I can go outside again!

I’m in SW FL too. Not only was it cold here, but very windy. We tried to golf and were glad to stop at 9. I don’t have any more winter clothes and the cold was very hard on my ears. Lesson learned – it’s not always paradise!

Carol, before we moved here we visited in February. The temperatures were in the 50’s and we knew it would be a good idea to bring winter clothes, although we have very little opportunity to wear them.

Re: SW Florida being called paradise…trust me, not everyone who lives here thinks of it that way, but I do know many golfers and for those who love it, as you seem to, I guess this would be the perfect place to live…

Btw, there are still some winter jackets and things on sale at Walmart… ;)

70 sounds great! I hate the cold (especially as I had over a week with a dead furnace) but I can’t take the heat and humidity like I used to either. I like the idea of planting tomatoes now, I got a long cold winter to get through before any thoughts of gardening again. Enjoy the outdoors while you can! ;)

Thanks Anita. The time when the weather is decent here is rather short, and sometimes when the temperatures drop the humidity rises….a very weird place…LOL
